Happy Groundhog Day!

And we're not talking pork sausage here!

Accordion to my German ancestors,

today the groundhog, also known as the woodchuck,

will peek out of his cozy groundhole, and if it's cloudy--
 Spring will come early!

But-- if Chuck sees his shadow,

Winter persists another six weeks!!.

Now, all that doesn't sound strictly scientific,

however, it did lead to two WolfieToons!

This one, for various reasons, was never published!

As a matter of fact, I don't know why it's here now.

However, I re-did the joke some time later with a better cartoon!

So enjoy the day, and if you see Bill Murray, tell him I said, "Hey."

  1. I enjoyed both of the groundhog spanking toons! Very nice!
I loved the Shadow mag! I may sound stupid here....Is it the same as the old radio show....? My parents always talked about that show!

    1. I'm glad you liked both paddling critters, Minelle, thank you!

Springrose and Larken could both tell you there is grave danger in starting me talking about any of my favorite pop culture icons-- but in brief, yes, the Shadow in the "pulp" magazine stories and on the radio show were more-or-less the same character! There were differences.

I had done a hammy version of "The Shadow" radio introduction on one of these blog entries, but that recording has mysteriously vanished now!

But if you want to hear a bit of one of the real programs, with Orson Welles as the lead character, YOU CAN CLICK HERE! Welles was the first of several Shadows.

And back in 1994, Alec Baldwin (!) was the Shadow in a pretty spiffy movie! <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRcZ4Pw2t_8>HERE'S THE TRAILER!</a>

    2. Oh, damn, I got one link written correctly and screwed up the second-- Well, THIS WILL WORK!

  2. LOL!

Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don’t forget your booties ’cause it’s cooooold out there today!

    1. :D I knew you'd know that movie, Li'l Larken!! And of course, here in WolfieLand, we strive to keep all cute little booties nice and warm!!

  3. Larken, is that Sonny and Cher I hear on the radio?

Dave, I like both of your groundhog cartoons but the second a little more. Phil looks like he is on a mission.

Can you believe Groundhog Day wasn't on this year.

    1. "Oh, the beat goes on! Yes, the beat goes on!!"

      Thank you, Kaki!!

Yes, I think PhilChuck Number Two has more animation!

I didn't know that didn't show! Whaddaya know!!

  4. Kaki, I thought that was Spanky and Cher. You know...

I put my hand on your behind,
There ain't no naughty bottom I can't find...
... Babe, I spanked you, Babe
    ... I spanked you, Babe
