Kinky Vampires, and the Monkees Sing "Shades of Gray"

I'll be talking about shades of gray here, but this week's WolfieToon from "DISCIPLINE AND DESIRE" is very colorful, with cute butterflies and a cute butt.

Erica Scott is featuring a video of Ellen Degeneres reading "Fifty Shades of Gray," the purportedly erotic bestseller based on the "Twilight" vampire series.  Check it out HERE, it's brilliant.

I found out about "Gray" from an article in TIME magazine and I thought to myself, "How did a mediocre piece of fan-fiction with attempts at describing erotic spanking and such become a national phenomenon, while any story appearing at "DISCIPLINE AND DESIRE" each week is better written and certainly more authentic?  How could "D&D" get its proper due?"

Any thoughts would be welcome, and I'll pass 'em on to Editor Reesa Roberts and the "D&D" authors.

I recall, to repeat what I told Erica, when my literary ex, who was going through an enjoyably active erotic phase, discovered the three "Sleeping Beauty" books that Anne Rice wrote under the pen-name "A.N. Roquelaure."  There's some pun there I've forgotten.  I always remember the name as "Roquefort," because the "Sleeping Beauty" books were kinda cheesy.

However, I do have to give Anne credit, because she said, in print, that her only reason for writing the "Beauty" series was to create "a good one-handed read."  She apparently went into an "adult" bookstore and bought a bunch of fetish books and magazines for research, and the tangled plot of the "Beauty" books did try to explore and explain the BDSM psychology.

But the actual thing did very little for me, what with people hanging all night on stone dildos in the hall and such.  Ew.  That was also the first time I heard about "pony girls," because I don't get out much.  The spanking scenes weren't bad, and By Gum., it did cause my ex to want to do some empirical research of her own.  I hope her bottom still remembers, wink!!

So since Vampire Kink seems to be in vogue (possibly in Vogue, too, I'll have to look) here is a somewhat sloppy WolfieToon that was in "ARILD'S MOVIE SPANKING YAHOO GROUP!"

(Disclaimer:  "WolfieToons" are entirely fictional and any resemblance to actual vampires, dead or undead, and actual cute round bottoms, punctured or not, is entirely coincidental.)

And if you never heard the song in the title for this post, here ya go:

See Ya!

  1. Huh. This was and still is my favorite Monkees song. For a young woman in her twenties to have this song be her number one favorite will tell you just how fast she grew up before this song even was a notion in someones mind.

At lot of things were easier way back then. Maybe I am trying to have that piece back whenever possible right now.

As for the book "Shades of Grey", there must be something more to the rise of such ineptitude behind it's popularity then we are privy to now. At least I hope so, because it defies all logic. Can people really be that illiterate? I scratch my head in total shock. There are a host of spanking writers that are a million times better than this drivel. The only hope I have for these authors is that your day of proper recognition will be forth coming because of "Fifty Shades Of Grey".

Haha! There is spanking in women's softball by the male manager and by the male coaches after the game. I can attest to that! :)

Ummm...that new spanking toon you posted. It is just funny, but I was wearing the same exact outfit as that woman at my spanking party last night. Very coinky dinky huh? *blushing* *Gets the butterfly net out*

    1. Thank you, Bree; your revelation regarding the Monkees' song is engrossing and somehow touching.

I hope you're right, that the value of "Gray" will be that it winds up getting better work recognized and enjoyed. Shekels into writers' pockets wouldn't be a bad thing, either.

Probably most of "Gray's" notoriety comes from its connection to the "Twilight" series.

Of course the quote about that I like best is from Stephen King, comparing two publishing phenomena: "Harry Potter is about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend."

You reminded me of another cartoon I did: "Spanking? There's no spanking in baseball!" That is an intriguing tale you'll have to relate, if you haven't already!

Yes, it must have been entirely coincidence, Bree; I was not at the party behind the houseplants sketching your outfit. (Dodges the butterfly nets yet again.)

  2. Dave, it's only a matter of time before the men in the white coats catch you in their butterfly net. ;-)

Shades of Gray was one of my favorite Monkees' songs, Peter actually got to sing a little. He and Davey were my favorite. (I still listen to the Monkees, shhhh)

I think the reason 50 Shades of Gray is so popular is because there are no truly "vanilla" people. Everyone has some kink and I think spanking is a big, big one. Just look at all the comments and innuendoes in movies and television. I hope this book gives authors that know what they are writing about more publicity. When you order on Amazon they use your previous selection to make suggestions. I know, you should see some of the suggestions it makes for me. *blushes*

    1. Ah, yes, Kaki, you've reminded me of THIS SONG!

I'm going to say the women have a lot of depth who liked that Monkees' song the best. And, be bold and proud! The Monkess are still my own sister's favorite group!

Your point is very good; probably everyone likes some spice to their sex, from nibbling and spanking to pregnant women with llamas.

It would be interesting to see your Amazon suggestion list, I might wanna buy something!

    2. Dave, I'm really scared now. I guessed that was the song you linked to, it was the first one that came to my mind. *bites nails* Does this mean that I starting to think like you?

    3. Only if you are in a crowd and think, "Hm, I wonder what her bottom would be like to spank?" Otherwise, Kaki Dear, have no fear! It only means you are an alert, intelligent, and perceptive individual with a great grasp of pop culture!!

  3. Great toons! I haven't read 50 Shades myself and don't know if I will. But I guess even if many of us true kinksters would find it lame and far-fetched, anything that might bring a bit more awareness or tolerance to TTWD is a good thing, right?
