So, this weekend they're again having Comic-Con International in San Diego!
And, yes, it will feature, among a myriad of things, some spectacular Cosplay! Maybe even...
As you might surmise, I've loved comics and cartooning and all that all my life!
As Larken wrote once:
(Drumroll, exciting music!!)
Faster than a speeding deadline!
More powerful than an ulterior motive!
Able to draw Tall Blondes with bottoms round!
"LOOK! Look at that GUY!
It's a NERD!
IT's a BRAIN!
No! It's-- SuperToonMan!!"
Yes, it's SuperToonMan, strange visitor from Pulp Fiction who came to Cyberland with powers and abilities far beyond those of Mortal Toons!
SuperToonMan, who can change the course of mighty Imps, bend pencil lines in his bare hands, and who, disguised as Dave Wolfe, mild-mannered cartoonist for a great metropolitan blog, fights a never-ending battle for Truth (as he sees it), Justice (for Imps), and the Spanko-American way!!
You've probably seen a bunch of the comic art pastiches I've done-- except this one:
And, yes, there were these:
Superheroes are such fun to put in a spanking comic , probably because of those tight leotards ?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if their red , spanked bottoms would be visible through that thin leotard material?
I have featured Spankman and Spankwoman in my own work and there are so many superhero possibilities.
Instead of kryptonite , their weakness is a hairbrush!
That's funny, Glen'! Thanks!
DeleteWhen the Phantom, Flash Gordon, Superman, and all the followers first burst on the scene, the costumes, patterned after circus acrobats and people in the gum, were flashy, sexy, and easier to draw because the artists didn't have to spend time making all those folds and wrinkles, and sometimes getting it wrong!
So of course attractive feminine curves were on display, which didn't hurt sales at all, and fueled fun fantasies!! Definitely mine!!
what a great compilation Dave, thank you. Bye for now Jenny
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Jenny! Glad you enjoyed 'em!!
DeleteNice selection. Say if you ever have the opportunity to check out the Ducktales 2017 reboot series as well as Arcane there may be some very interesting shots in your drawing future.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Loki, I'll have to try to find it again. I saw David Tennant on some chat show back then, saying how he was the new voice of Scrooge McDuck, using his own natural accent, but I've never caught the show anywhere! "Arcane" I don't know about; a glance on the Web says it won high praise for its cast and crew!
DeleteDefinitely some favorites compiled here! ☺️
