Wolfie Ruminations (Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rumination!)

This is lengthy, but it's full of illustrations!  And even a collage!

If I could get into Doc Brown's DeLorean and meet my younger self... he would run away screaming, and there might be some rip in the Space-Time Continuum, so maybe that's not a good idea.

But there might be, even in this overloaded internet information age, some young someone with the same questions I had up until about eighteen years ago, to whom I would love to impart my insight.

In fact, an Unnamed Researcher asked me in previous comments, if my Wolfie Work is an embarrassment to my friends and family, if maybe people think I'm "some kind of pervert" for making Spanking Cartoons, and if I am ever bothered by that.

I've been surprised at the reaction of a few "Vanilla" friends who have found out.  Or, I should say, the lack of reaction.  I was expecting them to gape at me like the audience watching "Springtime For Hitler," but they shrug and chuckle, and even remark on the qualities of the drawing they like.  I've always thought a good WolfieToon should have something going for it besides just cute bottom-smacking, so that counts as a success.

However, I do know members of my family who would be embarrassed by my salacious stuff, and so I've spared their feelings and not told them.  After all, what would be the point?  And there's a lot of their private life I'm happy for them to keep private.

There is one son who knows for sure, and although it's not really his thing, he appreciates the humor, and his partner has even suggested I collect and sell a book!  There actually have been a couple before.

If other offspring or relatives are in the know, if they recognize the cartooning style, they haven't said anything.

Sometimes in a crowd-- back when we could be in crowds-- I'll wonder, "Who in this grocery line has been chuckling over WolfieToons?"  It's not impossible that fans and I have crossed paths unknowingly!

Now, as to the matter itself, I decided long ago that there is really nothing perverted about erotic spanking, with the caveat that no one is seriously hurt, denigrated, disrespected, bullied, or belittled.  If it's actually consensual and fun, whatever the Pretense might be, it can be quite a thrill!  Spanking's certainly no stranger than any other sex act, and Sex is pretty silly to begin with, eh?

That is hard-won wisdom.  For most of my life I didn't know if I was indeed twisted, or maybe developmentally stunted for being aroused by spanking.  There was no one to ask, even if I overcame the embarrassment, and a dearth of proper research in any book I found.

I was titillated by the occasional "Penthouse Letters" spanking fantasy, although most of those were badly written, especially by men pretending to be women.  There were some dandy for-real female fantasies in Nancy Friday's books that I enjoyed.  And I knew something was going on in all those romantic musical comedy spankings;  they played 'em for laughs, but there was a winking awareness of something sexy going on, too.

I always hoped the Birthday Spankings I got to give my girlfriends would spark something.  They seemed to have taken it in the intended affectionate spirit, but never told me if it got their juices going.

My ex-wife wasn't really into it, but played along, and even enjoyed it sometimes.  She whispered in my ear once, "Spanking is your subtle need to dominate me!"   Thinking it over later, I decided that must be some part of it all, but for me, it's more about Sensation than Domination.

So it wasn't until the Internet came along that I met other Spankophiles-- intelligent, empathetic, decent, funny people who also happened to find spanking sexy!  We had many long conversations, sharing our histories and thoughts, and I was so grateful to know that I wasn't alone, or stuck in with a bunch of drooling maniacs!

Of course, there's a wide range of "takes" on this:  there are Tops, Bottoms, Switches, couples into serious Domestic Discipline, some who need a "reason" to spank, and others for whom it's just jolly good fun!  There are those, outside my circle, who go in for really harsh stuff, whips and blood, and Zeus knows what all, and they're welcome to it, but that certainly doesn't appeal to me.  I'm in it for the play.

Oh, I guess it goes without saying that a lot of us are voyeurs and exhibitionists, too!

Springrose pointed out, when we first met, that "Everybody's having such fun in your cartoons!"  And that's really the idea.

    1. You're welcome, and thank you, Brigitte!
Paddle Cat showed up in three or four cartoons, giving advice to frustrated spankers!
The other feline enjoys a warm happy glow! Don't we all!

  2. "People, people who spank people... " loved it! I sang it in my head. And I also like the one about needing a hot bottom before bed. That would be me.

  3. Probably your best post, ever. I am a regular reader, but a confirmed Chrome user which will not allow me to comment on any blogspot. So I fired up Safari just to say well done.

    1. I have always enjoyed soldiers toons esp. Where the spankee loves getting spanked. I love the spanking tunes as I think there was something over at spanking library in the jukebox that were similar. I think as a spanko we have always made a spanking song out of the classics. I can think of a few right off the top of my head. Thanks for sharing your amazing artwork with us and have a great day.

    2. Thank you very much, Jim, and you're welcome, of course!

I'm supposing you mean cartoons with guys in uniform? (There might be an artist signing as "Soldier.") That's a turn-on for lots of folks-- Army, Navy, Marine, AF, Cops, Etc.-- although I haven't done but three or four cartoons like that!

I wonder how many spanking song parodies we all do are the same? That might be another blog entry!

    3. My spell check sometimes changes it and I do not catch it before it gets posted. I did mean wolfie toons and I did enjoy all the pictures in this post esp. the first one quite a montage so thanks for the many posts and replying to our comments. Have a great day.

    4. Oh, I see! Y'now, I hate automatic programs like that! It's one thing for the Robot to ask, "Did you really mean that?" or to offer, "The correct spelling of this word is--," but to abscond with things the way it does creates misunderstanding and havoc-- and, admittedly, on occasion, some pretty funny stuff! But, brother! Glad you liked that collage! It could be a game of, "Which cartoon did this cute butt come from?" :-D Thanks, Jim!

    1. Thanks, Glen'! There was a web group once upon a time called "Southern California Spanked Wives (And Girlfriends." It was not exclusive to the ladies, hosting a lot of creative and hilarious people, and on its opening page was the statement, "All spankings should be fun!" So we're in good company!

  6. Dave:
I have always loved your toons because of the humor and artistry you present; but also because they were sensual rather than brutal. Like yourself, I enjoy the company of females and love being dominant, but I find no sexual pleasure or thrill in truly hurting anyone; a warm otk bottom is sensual, but sadisim is vommiting. Like yourself, I grew up pre-internet ( I received my "Greetings from the President" for an all expense paid trip to Southeast Asia in 1967). So it is refreshing to see the plethora of ideas and visualizations that are now available, as well as the knowledge that I my desires are not weird nor that I am the only one with such proclivities!! So, your work is a gift to all of us of past tense vintage and I thank you for your efforts. Your art and humor as usual were on fine display; however, your poignant and insightful commentary made this your best post ever!! Thanks again!!

P.S. Have you heard anything from Phil? Tell him we miss him and wish him the best possible.

    1. Why, thank you indeed, Rick, for that praise, and I'm delighted again to see what we have in common! And, for the experiences that we don't, I hope it's not cornball-cliched to say thank you for serving, especially since you had no choice!

I'll always be grateful to my mom and my younger sister (often my best friend growing up) who taught me love and respect for women, and to the female friends and impassioned lovers who helped me understand them better, including their sexual fantasies!

When I started these cartoons I was afraid of being misunderstood, but my female fans have always seemed to know there is no misogyny behind the behind-smacking!

And it was somewhat surprising to discover that younger people were aroused by spanking; for a while I thought it might have been unique to us older types, a sort of code for sexual activity in movies and such that would become obsolete when media became, shall we say, less coy about its depiction. But, as it turned out, spanking was a Thing itself!

Thank you for asking about Phil, too. I'll pass that along. I do hear from him regularly. ALS continues to take its toll, faster than any of us want, but he is surrounded by good and loving people, especially his wonderful wife.

  7. Thank you, dear Wolfie, for your wonderful drawings. I've enjoyed them for years. At least in my mind, those smiling spanked women you depict are totally me. I particularly like the Afterglow picture because that's the way I want every spanking session to finish.

I'm amused that you mention Penthouse Letters. Way back before the internet, my husband used to buy those glossy paper magazines. We would read the mostly goofy spanking stories together. This was our first hint that we weren't alone in our odd proclivity. Of course, we had no idea!

Ten or so years later, I too participated in the Southern California Spanked Wives (And Girlfriends) group. I met several people there who remain friends to this day.

What a long, strange trip it's been. Have a great weekend!

    Socially distanced hugs,

    1. And thank you, Bonnie, for your kind words about my cartoons, but also, and especially, for the help and joy you've given over the years to everyone finding themselves, and finding they're not as odd as maybe they had thought!

As an example, Larken told me your blog was pure enjoyment for those reasons and a lot more when she first went on the Web!

I remember we all had a grand time at SCSWC before it was forced into obscurity at "Whirled Groups," and then supplanted altogether by blogs and social media. And what a lot of things have happened since!

      Virtual hugs right back!!

  9. Dear Wolfie: One of your all-time best posts, explaining your thoughts and emotions about spanking, your and displaying a wonderful collection of your fantastic art. Like you, I hope every spanker is a happy spanker, and that the spankee is also happy, although not necessarily while they are being spanked. It is a wonderful game to play, with many benefits for both people. We do not condone non-consensual spanking, nor the spanking of children. Like you, I read everything Penthouse letters, and then Variations had as spanking articles, even though most were totally unbelievable.
Thank you for everything you write and the art you create. (PS: i did write a comment earlier, but once again it disappeared into the void. I sometimes do not look and hit sign out instead of notify me, specially on an ipad.

  10. Well my friend, it's amazing because if i compare, I could write exactly the same story concerning my job and my spanking passion, in fact I'll do it and you'll see how similar my cartoonist life is... Take care.
