Tribute To bOOm

"McWintock!"  A Western remake starring Elmer Fudd and Betty Boop!

That's an early example of the wonderful whimsy of the artwork of friend and one-time collaborator hugobOOm, or just bOOm, as he signed himself, who died this past May of a sudden illness.

Kim Lennon, as kindly as possible, let me know here about his death, and Web-Ed at Chicago Spanking Review had gone to a ferocious amount of trouble to get some details.  bOOm had been a regular contributor of cartoons and more at CSR for fifteen years.

bOOm and I met at the turn of the century, when the Internet was fairly new, at one of the Yahoo Groups named "Arild's MovieSpanking."  That may be how it began, but movies were hardly ever discussed.  It was, however, a fine forum for a bunch of us frustrated Spankophile artists, a social platform to at last to share our speciality interests, writing, and artwork with an appreciative group of like-minded souls, and to discover that this so-called fetish was shared, not with a bunch of sick, slavering sadists, but humorous, intelligent, kind-hearted, decent folk!

bOOm certainly was all that, and he, along with Phil "Overbarrel," Endart, Angus Old, Dan Rivera, Darth, and others, including yours truly, made a rollicking time of it. One of us would present a cartoon, a short story, or part of a series, and then everyone was welcome to join in talking about it.  There was sometimes constructive criticism as well as breathless praise, and often a delightful Groucho Marx-esque exchange of puns and wordplay would break out.

Yank, another Arild's member, now sadly gone as well, actually was a retired cop!  His frequently-used protest slogan was "Down With Panties!"

When the group had been going for a year, bOOm suggested an anniversary party,  a "Spankademy Awards" ceremony with all the artists collaborating.

He wrote a sketch for his lovely ginger creation, O.T. Katie and my own Wolfie Avatar to perform.  I supplied my parts as directed, and the 3D background was from our German pal Angus.

bOOm and I never became as close as Phil, Springrose, and I did, but he was a wonderful creator, and,  more importantly, a wonderful human being, the like of which we can ill-afford to be losing now.

A Nifty Nugget From The Twenty-Tens, A Bedazzling Birthday Ballad By Lovely Larken, Here on W-O-F-Eeee!

You guys and dolls don't know what you're missing!

Larken wrote a "Green Eggs And Ham" spoof about "Good Girl Spankings" that hasn't been published, and it's loads of fun!  Maybe if she knows someone who might give it some Psuedo-Seuss Drawrings~~?

But in the meantime, I'll repeat her birthday gift for me from a while back, a Peter Yarrow pastiche, a bit of whimsey about the wizard-like Wolfie!

Meanwhile, Across The Web--

If you've missed the "Poser"-program cartoons done by Phil "Overbarrel," here's a chance to catch up a bit!

Click these blue letters for the Overbarrel Spanking Toons Blog!

Sadly, Phil is struggling with ALS, and unable to produce new work.  But, with loving attention and care from everyone around, first and foremost from his lovely and remarkable wife, his kids and grandkids, and splendid service from the V.A. and their incredible technology, he is in good hands, and has been able to re-post past presentations!

The latest was the series he did for our Springrose's birthday sometime back, featuring that Resourceful Masked Man of the Plains!  Here are three from it:

(It runs "backwards," on the blog, so now you can follow it properly!)

Another was a celebration of couples who began spanking in their high school years and kept going through married life-- "Then And Now!"

And there's even some Halloween Magic!

Phil's dialogue has always been intended to augment and complete the fantasy!

So, enjoy!  And if I could persuade yo to leave a short comment there, too, that would be exceptional!

Wolfie's Screwing With Other People's Art Again!

But only in the spirit of fun, just for grins, and making sure everyone knows it is NOT the original!

You've seen this a lot of times, I bet, but not like this!

That had been the "splash page" for Sensation Comics #31, published in the summer of 1944, for the story "Grown-Down Land!"

I decided to see what it would look like if WW was wearing more abbreviated briefs, 1960's style,  with more curves showing!

The art was by Harry G. Peter (I know, I know, shut up) with the writing from William Moulton Marston.  In case you've ever been curious about the story, "Comic Vine" gives this synopsis:

Wonder Woman saves the Modern kids from their parents (because they don't like children), and when the kids don't wake up from sleeping, the Amazon Princess joins the kids in sleep and enters the kids’ dreamworld, called Grow-Down Land. Here Wonder Woman eventually helps bring the Modern family together by showing the parents how to act like children.

That's pretty typical Marston!
